about us
What we do
We are a 100% volunteer led, UK based, humanitarian aid charity.
Our aim is to help those who are most in need, in a way that aid and importantly hope, can be delivered beneficiaries directly.
We are a non-political, non-affiliated charity. We take aid, not sides.
Our Focus
Our current focus and operation is almost entirely in support of those people affected by the war in Ukraine. Since the start of 2022, we have sent on average, two articulated trucks of high priority humanitarian aid every month, to our partner charity in Kyiv, for onward distribution to those in greatest need.
In addition, during 2025 we felt compelled to do something to help in Gaza, no matter how constrained the circumstances, and we sent limited funds to two trusted partner charities outside Gaza with whom we had worked previously in Greece, each of which had people on the ground in Gaza, so they could buy extra food locally sourced inside Gaza. We ran an appeal for funding here in the UK, and as funds are received, we will be able to continue similar support.
Looking back to when we started, our work was always focussed on the eastern Balkans, but later Greece, and then France, and throughout the 25 years of our operations and now, our partnerships and friendships in these countries and regions remain strong.
Our Vision
Often goods are supplied by corporate partners.
In 2023, we partnered with Premier Inn to distribute mattresses that became available with room refreshes.
As part of our commitment to sustainability we would like to be able to work with more corporations as part of our Donate to Divert initiative, to provide much needed resources for those in need instead of these items going to waste or landfill.
Vulnerable individuals and families are identified for us by our partner NGO’s in-country who assist us to deliver the aid directly into the hands of those most in need. Working in this way we can identify exact aid requirements and ensure these items are sourced prior to the departure.
A bit about our past
The charity began in 1999 during the Balkans War. We supported the very poorest and most desperately in-need people of Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Kosova in particular, via convoys of humanitarian aid until our last convoy there in October 2016.
The need in the region is still great, but the world refugee crisis which affected Europe, demanded our response. We worked in mainland Greece and the Islands of Lesvos, Chios and Samos, as well as closer to home in Calais France.
During this time we also responded to other world emergencies. Projects were supported even where truck convoys were not possible.
Depending on where we are working, when it is safe and time appropriate to deliver aid to a country that requires on the ground teams, groups from the UK join together to form a convoy of trucks and drive to reach the country of need. On arrival they can be supported by more volunteers who fly directly, and collectively they help deliver the aid.
Currently our business model cannot support people flying into an active war zone, so we are relying on our partners in country being fed by backload trucks (in this case Ukrainian trucks that have delivered goods to the UK and are returning empty).
